Happy Dad Continues Strong Growth as Beer Category Slows in February
New data from Circana shows beer growth cooled in February across off-premise retail channels, but Happy Dad continued to stand out with strong gains.
Through February 22, beer dollar sales were up 1.6% year over year while volume was essentially flat at -0.1% across multi-outlet and convenience stores. In the most recent four-week period, the broader category moved into decline, with dollar sales down 0.4% and volume down 2.3% compared to the same time last year.
Happy Dad moved in the opposite direction.
According to Circana’s latest four-week data, Happy Dad delivered dollar sales growth of 32.8% and volume growth of 29.8% year over year. The brand ranked No. 24 among the top vendors in Circana-tracked channels and posted one of the strongest growth rates on the list.
The performance stands out even more given the broader environment. More than half of the top 25 beer vendors recorded year-over-year declines in the latest four-week period as category trends softened.
While overall beer growth slowed in February, Happy Dad continued to gain traction with consumers and retailers across the country and significantly outperformed the category.
Circana’s previous four-week report showed Happy Dad up 39.7% in dollar sales and 37.6% in volume, showing the brand continues to deliver strong growth at scale.
Even as the broader beer category faces a slower start to the year, Happy Dad remains one of the fastest-growing brands in the market.
