Happy Dad Continues to Win as Industry Shifts Toward Beyond Beer

Happy Dad Continues to Win as Industry Shifts Toward Beyond Beer

As the beer industry heads into another competitive summer, one thing is becoming increasingly clear across the category: growth is coming from brands that understand where consumer preferences are moving.

A recent industry analysis from Countermeasures Corp. founder Austin Sawyer highlighted ongoing challenges facing traditional domestic beer, citing changing drinking habits, tough year-over-year comparisons, and shifting distributor priorities. More wholesalers are focusing on dollar revenue growth through diversified portfolios that include RTDs, flavored malt beverages, spirits-based cocktails, and alternative beverage options.

That shift continues to create momentum for brands like Happy Dad.

The article pointed to suppliers and distributors who adapted early to evolving consumer behavior as the ones best positioned heading into 2027 planning discussions. As more consumers moderate alcohol consumption or seek approachable, easy-drinking alternatives, brands delivering flavor innovation and strong cultural relevance continue gaining share.

Industry scan data continues to reinforce Happy Dad’s momentum. According to Circana multi-outlet and convenience data referenced in the report, Happy Dad is currently up 39.1% in dollar sales year-to-date, making it the strongest growth trend among the top 25 beer vendors in the country. The report noted that Athletic Brewing, now a top 15 brewer by volume and the no. 16 beer vendor in Circana, is up more than 19% YTD, trailing only Happy Dad among top beer vendors.

At the same time, major suppliers are increasingly emphasizing “beyond beer” growth across the industry. Anheuser-Busch recently highlighted the continued expansion of RTDs and hard beverage brands, citing strong category-wide growth and increasing demand for alternatives to traditional beer.

Happy Dad has continued building momentum within this evolving landscape through its growing portfolio of hard seltzers, hard tea, and hard lemonade products. With continued retail expansion, strong consumer loyalty, and increasing national distribution, the brand remains one of the standout growth stories in the alcohol industry.

As wholesalers and retailers continue prioritizing brands that drive velocity, engagement, and incremental revenue, Happy Dad remains well-positioned for the months ahead.
